But there is one tool more critical than hormone optimization: eating the Meso-Menu, de-fatting the liver, and managing your thoughts when it comes to achieving a happy, bottom-line, ideal, healthy weight. ACCOUNTABILITY "People who are held accountable--achieve!" When I received my license, I wanted to open an integrative medical clinic that employed Medical Doctors, Naturopaths, Chiropractors, and Nurses. After treating tens of thousands of patients, by the time I was done practicing, which never happened, my life optimization protocol evolved around four strands that need to be threaded together:
Year by year, I learned the science and art of optimizing all four. But something was missing. I can teach everything I know about optimizing your life, as I do in this newsletter, but most, if not all, of my patients, could not achieve an optimized life even though I taught them all the tools they needed. I learned the missing ingredient after reading an article about an informal study. The authors followed women who went on a diet as their New Year’s resolution, looking for the best diet. The study found that nearly all the women failed—they failed to lose any weight at all. The study then followed the few that did. They found that those who did lose weight, not reaching their goal but lost weight, were held accountable. The authors only endorsed one diet plan, Weight Watchers. Weight Watchers held its members accountable by making them attend meetings. Many of my clients have been members of Weight Watchers, and yes, they lost weight, but they never came anywhere near their goal weight. At the time, we saw our weight optimization patients once a week. We would weigh and measure them and review their Hormone Replacement Therapy. We got great results, but nothing compared to what we achieve today. I rounded up the Medical Doctors, Naturopaths, Chiropractors, and Nurses and held a mastermind. The question was how we could improve our patients' accountability. We made a list and chose the best idea. The tool we decided to use in our protocol was Daily Statistical Texting. Smartphones had become ubiquitous at that time, about 15 years ago, so we had our patients text our team daily:
Once we introduced this action, our results went to unimaginable levels of success. If you want to weigh your ideal, bottom, happy, healthy weight, you must be held accountable. If you want to lose weight quickly and efficiently, we have found that being held accountable daily is the key. I no longer have a team, and I refuse to employ anyone because I would no longer be retired if I did. I retired nine years ago, and my wife doesn’t even help me anymore. As I am sure you know, this is my God-given purpose in life. It better be. She had better not tell me that I was supposed to be a Rockstar, or we're going to have words. This is not my job; I retired nine years ago, so I’m set. This is my passion, and I am great at coaching and terrible at golf. That's why I virtual coach instead.
