Resending: Menopause and Growth Hormone

The PAUSE

A Hormone, Weight, Health, and Mind Optimization Newsletter

"Doc, I now know that most, if not all, of my complaints I have about menopause are caused by the chaos my hormones have gone into because I no longer ovulate. I have a friend who takes growth hormone, and she says she's never felt younger. What is your take on Growth Hormone, menopause, and well-being?"

To be transparent, I have had many of my clients praise how they feel after going on Growth Hormone Therapy. But Growth Hormone Therapy is risky. It makes all of the cancer markers elevate, and to be frank, that scares the heck out of me. I am all about increasing the length and quality of my life, and I think that decreasing my cancer markers, since this awful disease is one of the significant causes of death, should be our goal, Instead...

Awaken Your Natural Growth Hormone

Let’s be honest: being paused can feel like your body threw a surprise party you didn’t ask for—complete with hot flashes, mood swings, and that mysterious belly that shows up uninvited.

But here’s the truth: your body hasn’t betrayed you. To put it simply, your hormones did. And one of the most potent hormones in this new phase of life is one most women never talk about—growth hormone (GH).

You may know GH as something athletes use to heal, but here’s the secret—you already make it naturally, and it’s one of your body’s best tools to increase energy, recovery time, and slow down the aging process.

Why Growth Hormone Matters

Think of GH as your body’s “revive and rebuild” hormone. It’s the one that helps you sleep deeply, keep your metabolism humming, and maintain firm muscles and glowing skin.

In your younger years, GH pumped through you like a party playlist—constant energy, fast recovery, strong hair, and smooth skin. By the time menopause rolls around, it’s more like… soft jazz on a rainy night.

That’s why you might notice after you turned 50:

  • Slower recovery after exercise
  • Stubborn fat (especially around the middle)
  • Thinner skin, weaker hair
  • Brain fog or fatigue that wasn’t there before

But the best news? You can naturally turn the volume back up—no needles, no gimmicks, and no “forever young” nonsense. If you want to slow down aging through natural growth hormone optimization, you should:

1. Sleep: Your Safest Growth Hormone Therapy

About 70–80% of your growth hormone is released during deep sleep—especially between 10 PM and 2 AM.

So if you’re up late scrolling, watching TV, or planning world domination (we’ve all been there), your GH production takes the night off.

To reboot:

  • Get to bed before 10:00 PM
  • Keep your room cool (66–68°F is ideal)
  • Avoid screens emitting their blue light an hour or two before bed
  • Try magnesium glycinate or a calming herbal tea

You’re not being “lazy” by prioritizing rest—you’re literally rebuilding your metabolism.

2. Intermittent Fasting: Let Your Hormones Breathe

Short, strategic fasting windows can increase GH by up to 300%. That’s your body saying, “Ahh, finally some extra time to repair.”

Start simple:

  • 12-hour fast (7 PM to 7 AM)
  • Gradually stretch to 14–16 hours a few days a week if it feels right

Pair that with high protein meals (around 25–30g per meal) to support muscle and recovery.

Intermittent Fasting isn’t deprivation—it’s giving your hormones space to do their job and repair your body.

3. Move with Intention: Strength + HIIT = GH Boost

Forget endless cardio. According to research, there are only two exercises that increase GH.

Try:

  • Strength training 3x per week (20–30 minutes)
  • HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) 1–2x per week (10–15 minute sessions)

The magic happens when you combine effort with recovery. GH flourishes when you challenge your body—but it loves rest just as much.

4. Feed Your Hormones Right

Specific nutrients and amino acids give GH a little extra nudge:

  • L-Arginine (especially before bed)
  • Glycine & Glutamine for repair
  • Zinc, Magnesium & Vitamin D3 to keep your endocrine system on your side

Always check with your provider before starting supplements, but think of these as little helpers for your hormonal orchestra.

5. Manage Stress (Because Cortisol Is GH’s Nemesis)

Cortisol, your stress hormone, is like that coworker who talks over everyone in meetings—it shuts down teamwork and GH.

To keep things balanced:

  • Practice box breathing (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4)
  • Walk outside daily
  • Laugh—seriously, laughter reduces cortisol and boosts GH

You don’t have to meditate on a mountain to lower stress. Sometimes it’s just five deep breaths and watching a good comedy that does the trick.

The Hormone Symphony

As estrogen declines, your GH sensitivity dips, too. That’s another reason why menopause can make you feel like your energy got “muted.”

But when you combine better sleep, strength training, mindful eating, and stress management—you start conducting your own hormone orchestra again.

The result?

  • More energy.
  • Sharper focus.
  • Better recovery.
  • Stronger you.
  • Younger you.
  • Better looking you.

You’re Not Losing Youth—You’re Building Power

Menopause isn’t a downgrade. It’s an upgrade that asks for a updated operating system.

Your body still remembers how to thrive—you just need to remind it how.

Growth hormone is your natural ally in that process. No magic pills, no “biohacking.” Just science, structure, and self-care that works with your biology, not against it.

THIS WEEK'S USIE

Here's another us-ie as we travel the world, teaching our clients how to optimize their hormones, weight, health, and minds. In this pic, we are exploring Honfleur France, a city in northern France's Normandy region where the Seine river meets the English Channel. We are at the Vieux-Bassin (old harbor), lined with 16th- to 18th-century townhouses, which has been a subject for artists including Claude Monet and Eugène Boudin. All is possible when you optimize your hormones, weight, health, and life, with HOPE.

Hi! I'm Doc Mac.

I have practiced hormone and weight optimization for over forty-five years. I retired 10 years ago; at least, that is what I thought. When I retired, my wife and I owned and operated several medical clinics specializing in hormone and weight optimization. We discovered that as a woman enters menopause, her hormones become disrupted, causing many women to gain weight rapidly, and no matter what they do, not be able to lose it. If that has happened to you, text me at 209-345-9799. I have found that those who text me are serious about creating the body they desire. Once I receive your text, I will find a convenient time for you to speak with me. During our conversation, I will customize a gourmet weight loss menu for you, and tweak it until it works. Our menus have no caloric restrictions or frequency of meals. There is no charge! 👍 Doc

Meno-PAUSE Hormone, Weight, Health, and Mind Optimization "Doc, once I became menopausal, I know — you define menopause as not ovulating — I found it very difficult to sleep, and it seemed as if I was aging on the fast track. Why? And is there something I can do about it?" Let's discuss a great little hormone, we have all heard about, and many of my clients use, but not the correct way, and that is Melatonin. THE HOPE PROTOCOL Hormone, Weight, Health, and Mind Optimization Who You’re Becoming Starts Now There’s a fascinating truth about transformation: your body, habits, and even hormones eventually catch up to the picture you hold of yourself. But here’s the catch — most people are walking around with an outdated self-portrait. They’re living like the “old version” of themselves… reacting from old beliefs, repeating old choices, and wondering why the future feels like a rerun. If you want new...

Meno-PAUSE Hormone, Weight, Health, and Mind Optimization Insulin Sensitivity & Hormone Balance Hey Reader If your body were a business, insulin would be your CFO — deciding where your energy gets spent. And your ovarian hormones? They’re the board of directors, constantly voting on whether you burn fat, build muscle, or just survive the day. When insulin and your ovarian hormones are in sync, everything runs smoothly. When they’re not… well, let’s just say the board meeting gets ugly,...
