In the last Mind Optimization Course, I wrote about how goals help us be more self-disciplined. The first goals we need to hone in on are our Eulogy Goals, which, if achieved, will satisfy us when we are on our deathbeds.

The next step is to set stepping Stone Goals. These can be decade, yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals. Each of these goals should get us one step closer to our Eulogy goals.

Please remember that there are four strands of life. We will make Eulogy and Stepping Stone Goals for each of the four strands of life.

  1. Me
  2. Us
  3. Them
  4. Him

STEPPING STONE HAVES

Research has shown that we have better odds of achieving our Eulogy Goals by taking small steps.

Some of these Stepping Stone Goals may have decade deadlines, while others may have one-week deadlines.

I prefer to set a quarterly Have. Please remember that I like to call goals Haves because we are making Be-Do-Have Bridges, which I call The HOPE Bridges.

Once I have my quarterly Have, I break them into weekly Stepping Stone Haves.

We will continue with the example from the Me Strand.

When we exhaled everything we desired for our body and mind to achieve or experience in our lifetime, our example final priority, "Me Have," was to “Dance at my grandchildren’s weddings.”

Now that we have our Eulogy Have, we must determine what Stepping Stone Have we must pursue over the next quarter.

This Quarterly Have needs to be realistic and move us closer to our Eulogy Me Have.

Examples of possible one-quarter Haves for the Me Strand may be a certain weight, dress size, A1c, waist size, or a limitation of alcohol or sugar consumption.

Exhale as many quarterly Haves that will take you closer to your Eulogy Have for the Me Strand. Drain the brain.

For brevity's sake, we will use the first quarter Me Strand Weight Have to demonstrate how to achieve any of their life strand Haves.

For example, most women and men I talk to want to achieve their bottom, healthy, happy, ideal weight.

In our example, our imaginary friend wants to lose 50 pounds. We will make losing 50 pounds and weighing 135 pounds our first Quarterly Steeping Stone Have.

There is no better way to live longer and be active longer than achieving an ideal weight through lifestyle changes.

Next, we will set our first week's weight Have. It is not unusual for a client who needs to lose 50 pounds to lose 10 pounds in their first week.

We will lose the most weight in the first week of our weight-loss journey. We will adjust our weekly weight loss goal as we have less to lose. I call it the theory of relativity. When we first start, we have fifty pounds to lose. Losing 10 pounds is 20% of our excess weight. When we weigh 136 pounds, losing 1 pound is 100% of our excess weight.

Have Hack: Whatever you desire must be trackable.

Next, set quarterly and weekly Haves with each of the remaining Life Strands.

Please don’t be in a hurry. The more time you take in the beginning, the less time you’ll waste on your journey.

Place everything and anything that flows out of your mind that you wish to accomplish with your inner, outer, and God Strands over the next quarter with your Eulogy Goals as your guides.

Spill your beans of all desires. It’s normal to divide one strand into categories. For example, in the Us Strand, there might be a section for your spouse, children, parents, and best friends.

But you will only choose one to focus on during each quarter. In the next course, I will explain why we must select only one priority goal per quarter.

  • Know your Four Euolgy Haves
  • Choose Quarterly Haves
  • Choose a realistic weekly Have
