Hi! I'm Doc Mac.

I have practiced hormone, weight, health, and mind optimization for over forty-five years. I retired 9 years ago; at least, that is what I thought. When I retired, my wife and I owned and operated seven medical clinics specializing in hormone and weight optimization. As we enter our pauses (menopause and andropause), our hormones become disrupted, causing us to gain weight, suffer from the inability to lose the extra weight, sleeping disorders, hormonally induced anxiety and depression, loss of interest in being intimate, and lose our motivation to be social. Our internal chemistry, our hormones, governs how we feel, look, live, and think. Subscribe to my free weekly newsletter, which over 30,000 'paused' women and men already have, by entering your email address below and learn the tools we use to optimize our hormones and weight ‘naturally.’

WEIGHT OPTIMIZATION COURSE SETTING YOUR WEIGHT 101 YOUR BOTTOM WEIGHT “Doc, I read your newsletters religiously. I often read about 'setting our weight.' What does that mean exactly, and how do you do that?" "After forty-four years of health optimization practice, I can tell you that it is easier to take the weight off than to keep it off?" BOTTOM WEIGHT You've read in these newsletters that if you stay with the Meso-Menu, you will find your healthy, happy, ideal, bottom weight. Healthy...

ENLIGHTENMENT COACHING COURSE WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS 104 MOTIVATION “Doc, I just can't get back on track. I fell off the protocol and can't seem to find a groove. It was easy to lose weight initially, but now I'm stuck. Maybe this is as far as I can go.” HORSE POO! "What can I do to get motivated again?" SUCCESS BEGETS SUCCESS! I often write about the two sides of The HOPE Protocol. The left side contains four technical strands, and the right has four coaching strands. Left Side Hormone...

ENLIGHTENMENT COACHING COURSE WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS 103 KNOWLEDGE “Doc, I get it! If I don't tame estrogen dominance, I will gain the weight I've lost back. But, how in the heck do you tame estrogen dominance?” SLOWLY! "So, how long will that take?" IT NEVER ENDS! Estrogen Dominance is what most women call menopause. The reason I say that is because the symptoms women complain about when in menopause are the symptoms estrogen dominance causes. Weight Gain Weight Loss Resistance Sleeping...

ENLIGHTENMENT COACHING COURSE WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS 102 “Doc, your Meso-Menu is a high-protein menu. I don't eat seafood or lamb or pork. How can I do your program when my choices are so limited?” Let me explain how. The HOPE Protocol's first phase has four components on the left and four on the right. The four components on the left are: Tame Estrogen Dominance The Insulin Glucagon Seesaw De-fat the Liver Strengthen Self Discipline The four components on the right are: Accountability...

ENLIGHTENMENT COACHING COURSE WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS 101 “Doc, what’s the secret to achieving the weight I desire? Is it my hormones? Or is it the menu? You write about the importance of a healthy liver, is it that? Or is it, what do you call it, managing my thoughts?” I love it! You’ve been reading my newsletter. It’s a combination of all four. But there is one tool more critical than hormone optimization: eating the Meso-Menu, de-fatting the liver, and managing your thoughts when it comes to...

THE STRESS HORMONE "Doc, I keep hearing about cortisol. Is it possible that it's what's causing me not to get a good night's sleep?" Cortisol has been nicknamed the "stress hormone," but like melatonin, it's more of a rhythm hormone. Where melatonin is the soft and subtle, the pianissimo, of your daily hormone cycle, cortisol is loud and harsh, the forte of your daily hormone symphony. The 2024 election results came in while I was sleeping. My dog jumped on the bed and pounced on Vicky and...

THE RHYTHM HORMONE "Doc, since I went into menopause, I can't sleep well. Will melatonin help?" YES! If you understand how it works and use it correctly. I love to write at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove, CA. When I wake, I walk across the street from the hotel, sit on a bench, and watch the sunrise from the Pacific Ocean. But wait a minute. Pacific Ocean! The sun sets when you are sitting on the Pacific coast of California. Not here. The Monterey Bay is cocked in such a way that depending on...

THE SLEEP HORMONE "Doc, since I went into menopause, a good night's sleep has become nearly impossible. I've tried many different remedies, but none have worked. What the heck happened?" I am sorry, but I need to repeat myself. "Menopause is caused by not ovulating." When you no longer ovulate, your ovaries no longer produce progesterone or testosterone. This is when all the trouble begins. Let me first remind you what progesterone does. "The main function of progesterone is to prepare the...

MENOPAUSE AND SLEEPING I was about twelve years old when someone broke into my house and shot me. I was lying on the floor, and I realized that I had been shot in the arm. I couldn't move my arm. With my arm paralyzed, I couldn't get myself up off the floor. I started screaming for help. HELP! HELP! HELP! The next thing I felt was someone shaking me. Wake up! Wake up! My eyes opened, and Mom seemed perturbed with me. "What?" She turned around and left the room. I tried to get up, but I...
